Hannah Bowman Way which was completed in March this year has been given an award by the East Midlands Region of the Forum for the Built Environment. This organisation brings together professionals in the construction industry. The scheme was judged the best residential development of the year as well as Scheme of the Year.

This scheme lies within the Peak District village of Youlgrave and marks the culmination of many years work. These new homes were provided as a result of a local partnership between Peak District Rural Housing Association, Youlgrave Community Land Trust and emh group, with great support from Derbyshire Dales District Council.

The development was completed in March 2015 as a design and build contract between emh group and Lindum Construction and comprises six houses and two bungalows with a mix of affordable rent and shared ownership homes, with priority given to local people when they were allocated.

The dwellings are built from limestone and slate tiles, using traditional building methods. The stone was supplied by a local quarry and Lindum also used local tradespeople.

The judges were impressed by the good design of the homes, their energy efficiency and the careful way in which Lindum had developed good relationships with the local community through the build period.
