Vote for Saffron Lane Neighbourhood Council!
"The new homes and urban oasis will help Leicester regain the mantle of environmental city."
Neil Hodgkin, SLNC Project Manager
Saffron Lane Neighbourhood Council (SLNC) is one of our partners in the development of 68 new eco homes on underused land near Saffron Lane in Leicester. The project is one of the largest eco-friendly affordable housing developments in the country, due to be completed in May 2016.
The homes will be built to Passivhaus standard, meaning they will have high levels of insulation and controlled ventilation standards. This will ensure a low carbon footprint and energy efficient homes that can reduce energy costs for residents.
At the same time SLNC is planning to rejuvenate disused area beside the development and turn it into an urban oasis with its “Building a Greener Future” project. The field pond will be refreshed, and hedgerows reinstated to connect a wildlife corridor on Saffron Heath, creating a diverse wildflower meadow.
The charity is also planning to plant 800 new trees on the site, and this is where it needs your vote.
You can help them turn this dream project into a reality by voting for them in the Aviva Community Fund.
