Building work has been completed on a brand new development of 25 affordable homes in Derbyshire.

The development, on the former site of the Jolly Farmer pub on Skeavingtons Lane which was demolished in 2008, has been transformed thanks to a partnership with house builder Westleigh, social housing and care provider emh group and Erewash Borough Council.

The 25 homes will be available for affordable rent through emh homes, the social landlord arm of emh group and include a mixture of one bedroom and two bedroom apartments as well as two and three bedroom properties.

Funding of about £2.8m was provided for the project by the Homes and Communities Agency. Building work started in April 2015 and took 12 months to complete.

Gary Turner, Head of Investment and Partnership at Westleigh commented, “We’re thrilled to have worked with our partner agencies on this important project which will help to meet the continued rise in demand for affordable housing within Derbyshire.”

Chan Kataria, emh group Chief Executive, said, “We are delighted that through solid partnership working we are continuing to contribute to the regeneration of Erewash as well as meeting housing needs in the local community.”

Councillor Carol Hart, Erewash Borough Council’s Deputy Leader and Lead Member for Community Engagement, says: “This is another good-news development for Erewash as we continue to work with our partners on providing the best quality affordable homes for our residents. It is good news for the borough that this derelict site will be turned into a quality development offering a whole range of properties to suit all needs.”
