Coalville-based housing association emh homes has entered into a partnership with Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service to create a high level of safety compliance in all its homes.

Known as a Primary Authority Scheme (PAS), the partnership will work towards consistent and balanced fire and safety regulations. The social landlord, which has around 18,000 homes across the East Midlands, will receive all the latest advice on fire safety, have guidance for checks, and be part of a group which shares information.

Carl Yost, asset and assurance manager at emh homes, said: “Some of our properties house vulnerable people who need special consideration in terms of fire safety solutions, and this partnership means that we will receive all the latest and best practice for all our tenants. We were recently audited following a programme of fire risk assessments and remedial actions, and received a fully assured rating which is a real positive.”

Richard Wort, station manager responsible for fire protection policy at Fire and Rescue Service headquarters, said: “We are very pleased to invest in this partnership with emh homes, and we will pursue high standards of fire safety provision throughout their property portfolio. We look forward to working with them to achieve the best provision in each circumstance.”
