Social enterprise

“We do much more than build homes. We invest time, skills and funding in the communities that surround them to create neighbourhoods where people choose to live.”

Chan Kataria, emh group Chief Executive

More than a housing provider

We provide affordable housing and related care and support services throughout the East Midlands, but our ethos is to invest in communities more broadly. Social enterprise is a vital part of our work, and we offer several ongoing programmes to improve employment chances, enhance life skills, and encourage entrepreneurship.

emh group Academy

Funded by profits from our grounds maintenance enterprise, Sharpes Garden Services, the emh group Academy was created in 2012 to provide education, training, skills, and future job opportunities for local young people.

Charity donations and sponsorship

We regularly donate money to local groups across the East Midlands so that communities can thrive. For example, we have given grants to a Girl Guides group in Coalville, the Three Trees Community Association garden, and Quackers Community Farm in Cotmanhay. We have also sponsored Highfields Rangers football team in Leicester, Community Action Blaby District’s older peoples befriending service, and the Leicester Mercury Good Neighbour Award since 2012.
