Group Chief Executive Chan Kataria is proud to be on the Board of PlaceShapers, a national network of more than 100 community-focused housing associations.
Together, the associations own and manage over 725,000 homes, provide services to more than two million people, and employ over 70% of their staff locally.
Collectively, they are on track to build 88,000 new homes by 2020, a 12% increase on members' existing housing stock and a third of all homes predicted to be built by the housing association sector.
The housing organisations came together as a lobby group because they see the importance of working with partners at a local level in order to achieve real improvements within an area.
Good housing is the bedrock for a decent life, and everyone concerned is conscious of their pivotal role as change agents.
Chan said: "It is vital that at a time of fundamental change the voice of medium-sized community-based housing associations is loud and strong, and that we collectively articulate the importance of what we do in shaping places and communities.”
