Apprenticeship programme

"The workforce of tomorrow depends on us identifying and investing in talent today, and our apprenticeship programme is a key part of that."

Chan Kataria, Group Chief Executive

Apprenticeships

The emh group academy was created in 2012 to provide education, training, skills, and future job opportunities for local young people. The apprentices combine working in a range of service areas across the group with their studies at local colleges. By joining the workforce in positions in accounting, electrical maintenance, health and social care, housing, IT and marketing, students improve both their confidence and their chances of finding employment after graduation.

We are also committed to creating apprenticeship opportunities on our new build projects and to sourcing local labour wherever possible.

Award-winning

Our long-term commitment to providing training and education opportunities for local young people has been recognised and rewarded several times since the inception of the Academy (2012 - present), both at regional and national level.

In 2023, Muhammad Delair was a finalist for Apprentice of the Year at the East Midlands Chamber Business Awards 2023.

Apprentice, Emily Jacob was a finalist for Apprentice of the Year, at the Generation Next Awards 2022.

In 2020 emh group was a finalist in the East Midlands Property Awards for our Skills and Apprenticeship Scheme.

In 2016 emh group was named Apprentice Employer of the Year at the Leicester Mercury Business Awards.

We retained the City & Guilds status in 2015, and were named UK Large Employer of the Year by the Leicester Apprenticeship Hub.

At the regional heats of the National Apprenticeship Service Awards 2014 we were named Newcomer Large Employer of the Year. Later that year we were awarded City & Guilds Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer status.

Commenting on the ongoing recognition, Chief Executive Chan Kataria said: “It is an incredible honour to be recognised for the work of our Academy. However, it is our apprentices that should be congratulated. Without their hard work, commitment and enthusiasm the scheme would not be the success it is.”
