Meet our management team

Chan Kataria, Group Chief Executive


Chan has held non-executive positions on the boards of several housing and third sector organisations locally, regionally and nationally. He has been involved in housing education as lecturer and external examiner. Chan has a degree in Economics, an MBA, and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Housing. He became Chief Executive of emh group in 2004.

Chris Ashton, Executive Director – Housing


Chris joined the organisation as an area housing manager in 1996 after having worked in a variety of roles in the housing sector. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Housing and on their national "learn and improve" board. Chris has been instrumental in developing the emh group social enterprise strategy.

Joanna Grainger, Executive Director – Care and Support


Jo is responsible for care and support services across the group. This includes supported living, registered care, day services and domiciliary care. She has extensive experience in the housing and care sector, and is passionate about ensuring everyone has an opportunity to live the life they want to live.

Andrew Kilby, Executive Director – Finance


Andrew qualified as an accountant in 1988 and joined the organisation in 1997 as Finance Director. His responsibilities include all financial activities, IT, risk management and procurement.

Jim Patman, Executive Director – Development


With extensive knowledge gained from more than 30 years in the sector, Jim worked for three other registered social landlords in the region in various development roles before joining emh group in 1998. He leads the emh group involvement in the Quantum Consortium and is Chair of the National Housing Federation regional development practitioners group.

Joanne Tilley, Executive Director – Corporate Services


Responsible for HR, governance, communications, corporate policy, continuous improvement, diversity, customer information services, co-regulation and promoting tenant scrutiny, Joanne takes a lead role in pursuing non-development business opportunities. Past roles include district housing manager. Joanne is a member of the Chartered Institute of Housing.
